Session Summary

Many companies focus on the initial deployment of Lean and Six Sigma in the area of manufacturing, leaving the service/support organizations as something to be completed in the future.  It can be challenging for companies to make the decision to shift their focus to IT because many of the improvements that can be made utilizing Lean concepts cannot be visually seen as easily as they can on the manufacturing floor.  However, most of the “low hanging fruit” can be found in organizations such as IT because there are so many repeatable processes within these departments.  Once a company realizes that they can save numerous hours of effort on day to day processes, the sky is the limit!  In this session you will learn about game changing IT concepts-Lean in IT!

Speaker Biography

Katie Labedz has been practicing Lean and Six Sigma concepts for the past 19 years.  She is a certified Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt and Project Management Professional.  She has a diverse background that includes manufacturing, materials, supply chain and IT in the automotive and electronics industries.  Katie has spent the last eleven years of her career focusing on how to teach people the application of Lean/Six Sigma concepts in a non-manufacturing environment.     She is an active member of ASQ, participating as a judge for the past two years in the preliminary round of the International Team Excellence Awards.  She is also responsible for continuous improvement and the PMO in the IT organization at Plexus Corp.
