AITP offers many different recognition awards to our professional and student members, student faculty, and our professional and student chapters for their individual and collective participation and dedication to AITP. For all award deadlines and deadline information please see review the information below and the the Awards Schedule and Deadline Information documents when published for the 2015 award year.
Distinguished Information Science Award (DISA)
The purpose of this award is to recognize individuals who have made outstanding contributions through distinguished services to the field of information management. The candidate for this award need not be an AITP member and there are no restrictions on the nature of the contributions or type of service rendered as long as it pertains to the interests and advancement of information management. Candidate names may be submitted by AITP members, chapter officers and other qualified persons to the AITP Vice President by December 31st of each year. Please consult the DISA Manual found on the AITP national website.
Individual Performance Awards (IPA)
This award is to recognize members for their individual achievements and dedication to the ideals of the association. Members earn points for each of their activities and then they are formally recognized for their contributions to AITP. Members are asked to submit a completed IPA points tracking form each year, for service the year prior, to the chapter awards chairperson. Points are tallied, award recipients are determined and then presented the award at a ceremony later in the year. Total membership points also contribute the COPA (Chapter Outstanding Performance Award). Please send your completed IPA forms to firstname.lastname@example.org.
This award may be granted to those persons of prestigious stature who are nominated by the Association President and approved by the Executive Committee and Association Board of Directors, including but not limited to recipients of the DISA award, former AITP Presidents and recipients of the Lifetime Achievement Award.
Chapter Outstanding Performance Award (COPA)
The Chapter Outstanding Performance Award was developed to recognize Chapters for their efforts to become a well-rounded, effective group within their industry, local community and professional association.
Region Outstanding Chapter Award (ROCA)
The Region Outstanding Chapter Award was developed to recognize Regions for their efforts in developing AITP chapters and members. The Regional Outstanding Chapter for each region will be selected by the Regional Board of Directors.
Association Outstanding Chapter Award (AOCA)
The Association Outstanding Chapter Award will be selected by an independent committee not the Association.
Student members are encouraged to work toward this award by completing certain chapter activities. The award is non-competitive in that every member of the chapter can achieve the award through participation.
Student Chapter Outstanding Performance Award (SCOPA)
Student chapters are encouraged to work toward this award presented annually for outstanding chapter performance. This award indicates the chapter is providing a variety of opportunities to and for its members and its members are participating In a variety of activities.
Outstanding Student Chapter of the Year Award
This award is presented annually at the National Collegiate Conference to the winning student chapter chosen from the student chapters who achieved SCOPA. The 2012-2013 winners include The University of Texas at El Paso, Missouri State University, Ball State University and Kent State University Ashtabula.
This award is to recognize any business entity for service to AITP and the Information Technology industry. Awards may be made for Information Systems programs in a: (a) two-year programs, and (b) four-year programs. The application is due by June 30th.
Outstanding Student Chapter Faculty Advisor of the Year Award
This award is presented annually at the National Collegiate Conference to the winning student chapter faculty advisor chosen from faculty advisors of student chapters who achieved SCOPA for the previous two years.
AITP Faculty "Going the Extra Mile” Award
This award is to recognize faculty members that truly go "the extra mile” for their AITP student chapter. Candidates do not have to be the official faculty advisor for the AITP student chapter. The winner will be announced during the closing awards banquet at the AITP National Collegiate Conference.
